 set up Claret-e in 1999 with already 12 years of experience in  the Wine Trade including spells as a wine buyer with Majestic Wine Warehouses and time with two highly reputable and still trading Fine Wine Merchants. With the encouragement a host of loyal private clients and friends and with a fantastic list of suppliers under my belt, the time had come to go it alone.

Our theory is not unique. We get as close to the source as you can, run a very tight ship and pass all the savings onto our customers. Unlike some of our local competitors we do not broker any wine, it is all our stock. All our prices are available on line and on price comparison websites, and in 99.9% of cases are cheaper than any fellow stockists.  We have nothing to hide. We don't stock any drinking wine we don't taste before hand. And yes, everybody in the office tastes and is involved in the decision making process.

The thrust of what we do still remains looking after and servicing all the needs of all our private customers. We can deliver anywhere in the UK in quick time. In the last few years, the level of referrals we are getting has escalated to fantastic levels, we thank you so much for these, please keep them coming, the message is clearly getting across.

We advise our UK clients on managing their cellars and provide and quick and efficient valuation service on any wines they are holding in bond. Our rates of commission on sales are all agreed at the time and are never more than 10%. For those who rebuy wine from us, it is 5%.

We now have private customers on all corners of the globe. We are starting to run wine clubs in Florida, New York and Greenwich, Conneticut. Everyone clubs together and orders 4/5 times a year without having to order huge quantities. The savings in shipping from the UK to the USA, vary from around 30% upwards.

In Singapore, my cousin Toby is running a business also servicing private clients that is escalating at a very steep curve. We now ship there twice a month and save the average Singaporean resident between 25 and 50%. I travel there 2 to 3 times a year to help on corporate events and tastings.

Our Fine Wine business is also continues at a pace, especially in Hong Kong and China. We are shipping there more than ever.
